Gay clubs should be banned under a new Russian bill seeking to penalize LGBT ‘propaganda’, Nina Ostanina, a member of the country’s lower house of parliament, has said.
Nina Ostanina is a member of the parliamentary opposition Communist Party and has become a prominent voice on “family values” issues. She previously identified as a “progressive.”
“Gay clubs are places where one usually can find [LGBT] people… I consider them establishments that promote untraditional sexual relations,” Ostanina, the head of the parliamentary committee on family matters, told news agency RIA Novosti.
She insisted, however, that the bill does not outlaw homosexuality. “It is about propaganda, not about [LGBT] people. They will continue to live as they do now,” she said.

The Duma unanimously approved the bill during its first reading on Thursday. The proposed legislation will ban the “propaganda” of same-sex relations in the public sphere, including in the media, films, books, and advertisements. It will provide fines of up to $6,500 for individuals and $81,500 for organizations.
The bill, which was initially proposed by the state media regulator Roskomnadzor, builds on a ban on LGBT “propaganda” targeting minors, which has been in place in Russia since 2013.
Legislators are expected to attach amendments to the bill during its second reading. Ostanina said the planned ban may be expanded to cover theaters, and harsher penalties for offenders may be also considered.

The American people have wasted the last three years. If you don’t know what I am talking about, stick with me, because you will definitely get my point by the end of this article. Three years ago, Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton in one of the greatest election upsets in American history. Many conservatives have used the word “reprieve” to describe what happened, but the truth is that it was actually an opportunity. It was an opportunity for this nation to move in a fundamentally different direction culturally, but it would be up to the American people to decide if that would actually happen or not. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Instead, just about every form of evil that you can possibly imagine is running rampant in our society, and things are getting worse with each passing day. No matter who wins the next presidential election, and no matter who controls Congress, there is no future for our country if we stay on the path that we are currently on. Our culture is steadily swirling down the toilet, and most Americans don’t seem to care.
On Monday, we witnessed a watershed cultural moment that perfectly illustrates what I am talking about.
For many years, Chick-Fil-A was one of the few major corporations in America that was openly resisting the rising forces of political correctness. They literally became a heroic counter-cultural symbol for many of us, because they were willing to take a bold stand for the truth even as they endured endless attacks from rabid politically correct militants.
But now Chick-Fil-A has unconditionally surrendered to the politically correct crowd. On Monday, the company announced that they would no longer be donating money to The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. And CNBC is reporting that this decision was made because both of those organizations “have a history of opposing same-sex marriage”…
Chick-Fil-A said on Monday that it has stopped funding two Christian charities after coming under fire in recent weeks from LGBTQ activists.
The fast-food chain’s foundation has donated millions of dollars to The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Both organizations have a history of opposing same-sex marriage.
Seriously?
Has our society gone so far down the toilet that it is now considered to be “evil” to give money to The Salvation Army?
Are you kidding me?
Look, the truth is that the Salvation Army is not even remotely a radical organization, and yet the politically correct crowd all over America is calling on everyone to boycott it.
Is this really where our society is heading?

I will no longer be eating at Chick-Fil-A either, and I hope that millions of other outraged Americans will make the same decision.
Sadly, virtually every single day there are more examples in the news of the extreme moral decay that is eating away at the fabric of our society like a very aggressive form of cancer.
And we can see examples of this all around us.
For instance, a business owner in Denver was recently fined for refusing to pick up the poop and discarded needles that drug addicts were continually leaving in front of his store…

In the past, many Americans tended to look down upon “third world countries”, but the truth is that we are literally becoming a third world country.

Freddie lives in a hole in Oakland. The middle-aged, longtime heroin addict has no running water, electricity or a bathroom. He does have six pigeons and a feral cat that keep guard over his belongings and hiss at strangers who get too close. He sleeps on a bed of trash and his open-air home is a hodgepodge of reminders that Freddie is not OK. He spends most days cleaning up the sidewalk opposite his home. On days when the drugs really kick in, he can be seen sweeping dirt from one side of a dirt lot to the other.
There are a lot of Freddies in Oakland — people who are down on their luck or pushed out of their homes and struggling with mental illness who find it easier to turn to drugs than face reality.
And this is actually happening in one of the most prosperous areas of the entire country.
In fact, no city in America has prospered more during the Internet era than San Francisco, and it has literally become a cesspool of human degradation. If you can believe it, during the first 10 months of this year there have been 25,084 official complaints about feces in the streets…
The City of San Francisco’s Department of Public Works responded to tens of thousands of “human or animal waste” reports in the first 10 months of 2019, according to the city data.
The department responded to 25,084 such cases from January through October of this year, according to the city’s 311 data portal.
I find it highly ironic that the city at the epicenter of America’s tech boom is literally being used as a toilet.
Sadly, these examples from Denver, Oakland and San Francisco are not even worth comparing to the absolutely disgusting cesspools of filth and corruption that the halls of power in Washington and New York have become.
Our nation is speeding toward a date with destiny, and the road that we are on only leads to one destination.

We are running out of time, and yet our society continues to refuse to change course.

(TMU) — A Greek Orthodox bishop in Cyprus has earned bemusement and mockery from social media users across the globe after making the ludicrous claim that men are gay because their mothers had anal sex while pregnant—and enjoyed it.
The strange assertion, which Church of Cyprus bishop Neophytos Masouras of Morphou made at a primary school in the Nicosia district town of Akaki, supposedly has a basis in theological opinions within the Eastern Orthodox denomination.
The bishop explained:
“It happens during the parent’s intercourse or pregnancy. It follows an abnormal sexual act between the parents. To be more clear, anal sex.
[Saint Porfyrios] says that when the woman likes that, a desire is born, and then the desire is passed on to the child.”
The recently made saint, who died in 1991, was known to have warned gay people to stay single and spend their lives alone, praying that their sexuality would simply go away.
Bishop Masouras’ comments were delivered amid a series of “spiritual meetings of dialogue” this month, Cypriot LGBTI rights group ACCEPT said.
The meetings are an open forum where audience members of all ages can question the bishop on any subject.
Needless to say, the idea that pregnant women finding anal sex pleasurable is a hereditary factor in the inception of gay offspring lacks any basis in science.
However, the bishop’s comments reflect the sadly bigoted attitude that the Cypriot LGBTI community are forced to confront on a daily basis.
Video footage of the bishop’s talk, which was captured in June, went viral after it was posted by Accept LGBTI Cyprus along with the caption: “How are lesbians created?”
Greek and Cypriot commenters absolutely reveled in mocking the bishop’s ridiculous claim.
One comment translated to English by Facebook said:
“So, my father, if the woman in time does oral, the child will become a dentist? Just a question my father!!!!! HAVE MERCY!!!!!!!!”
However, another commenter defended the bishop, stating:
“The priest says this because he investigated it and says [this] with divine enlightenment, unlike you who judge without having the slightest idea.”
Yet another netizen hit the nail on the head with the truthful comment:
“The problem is not this ignoramus, the tragic problem is that there are thousands who believe him.”
Dear Ukraine, are you not happy that the USA liberated your country and gave you democracy?

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) is allegedly involved in a series of crimes, including torture, enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions, the State Department said in its annual human rights report released on Friday.
“Human rights groups and the United Nations noted significant deficiencies in investigations into human rights abuses committed by [Ukraine’s] government security forces, in particular into allegations of torture, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, and other abuses reportedly perpetrated by SBU,” the report said.
The perpetrators of the 2014 Euromaidan shootings in the country’s capital Kiev have not been held accountable, the report added.

At the same time, the SBU continues to impose pressure on media outlets concerning “reporting on sensitive issues, such as military losses,” according to the report.The US State Department also noted that Ukraine’s government committed a series of human rights violations, including corruption, censorship and violence against ethnic minorities.
“Abuses included widespread government corruption, censorship, blocking of websites, government failure to hold accountable perpetrators of violence against journalists and anti-corruption activists, violence against ethnic minorities and LGBTI persons,” the report reads.
The State Department said the “most significant” abuses occurred in the Donbass region, where it said unlawful killings and politically motivating disappearances have occurred.
The report also cited “multiple reports of attacks on journalists investigating government corruption” and accused Ukrainian authorities of restricting media content “on vague grounds.”
The State Department report documents the status of human rights and worker rights in nearly 200 countries and territories. Its latest issue addresses violations that happened in 2017.

JEA: Let’s start with your book, Putin’s Praetorians: Confessions of the Top Kremlin Trolls. In a chapter written by Charles Bausman, it states:
“Russia is an incomparably fascinating, deep, wonderful civilization, one of the great world civilizations, with a fantastic wealth of ideas, culture, and Christian spirituality. The truth is that it is, and was, routinely smeared by its enemies, and its true nature is barely understood in the West.”
Can you put some flesh in the bone of that statement for us?
PB: Charles has studied many years to gain a scholarly understanding of Russia and her culture. History verifies his apt reflections here, and I can only add this. Most people do not understand that Russia is still a vast empire in the geographic, cultural, and strategic sense. Like all great empires/civilizations she is also under constant internal and external stress, and subject to various expansion and contraction fluctuations.
It is because Russia is an empire, and because of the existent potential, that nations like Britain and the United States have sought to “contain” her. And since the fall of the Soviet Union the mission of the liberal order in the west has been to break up what remains of this empire.
JEA: Bausman again states:
“It is fair to say that the average Westerner, even the average highly-educated one, has a very faulty and slanted knowledge of Russia, tainted as it has been now for three centuries of outright hostility. I see it again and again when talking to highly educated and fair-minded people, especially older ones.”
Why is that? Would you attribute this to media disinformation?
PB: The media and information “bubble” that westerners live under is not an overnight construct. The “reality” created for the public is not simply a newspaper, radio or TV fabrication, either. Even at the local level, in the church or at the factory, the idea of exceptionalism permeates western societies.
It is the essence of this false exceptionalism that powers what you would call Russophobia. The same modus also powers ultra-capitalism and the unsustainable democracies we’ve created.
JEA: Bausman: “Perhaps we are on the cusp of a new era, when observers can write and think about Russia with a new eye, and begin to understand her majesty and promise, as Russia is only now beginning to do herself. She truly has much to offer the world, in knowledge, wisdom, and spirituality…”
One of the most cogent scholars who has been doing exactly that for the past ten years or so is Stephen F. Cohen. Yet he has been deliberately demonized as an intellectual outcast and the Kremlin’s puppet. Is the West ready to accept the truth about Russia?
PB: People in the west cannot deconstruct their existence so easily. The tidy, quaint, and safe little walled garden in which we Americans have lived for decades is the reality. People like the so-called “Kremlin trolls” in this book are so misunderstood. I can tell you that each of them has gone through this “deconstruct” in order to be able to see the truth of these matters. I know Charles Bausman has. I imagine that Stephen Cohen has. And I know for certain that I have.
For the west to embrace Russia as a friend and partner a transition is necessary. We saw this modern transition come to a halt when the hegemony began regime change in Libya, Ukraine, and then Syria. We saw the “preparation” for normality destroyed when the Sochi Olympics were trashed by the liberal world order in February 2014.
JEA: Have you stumbled upon the writing of Masha Gessen? She is one of the most dishonest people I have ever encountered when it comes to Russia. She also cannot put two coherent thoughts together. I have discussed some of her writings in the past.
PB: I wrote a story about Gessen, which is about to be published. Ordinarily, I shun harsh personal criticisms of such individuals, but this woman is an especially onerous and dangerous case. Suffice it to say she is “damaged goods”, or someone a psychologist might refer to as irrational or “unbalanced” – I would not consider anything she says credible.
Gessen’s agenda is entirely wrapped around her gayness and the LGBT empowerment agenda. Like the ousted Russia oligarchs, the western hegemons see her influence in this community as a weapon. This is the open book of Masha Gessen.
JEA: You are absolutely right on target here. What frustrates me most about these issues is that these people don’t seem to understand elementary logic. Let me give you one example. Gessen once posited the claim that “It’s a no brainer that gays have the right to marry.” In the very next breath, she magically asserted: “I also think equally that the institution of marriage should not exist.”
So, which is it? She found herself in a torrent of contradictions because she is operating under a wicked ideology which doesn’t allow her to clear her head. What’s your take here?
BP: Once again, if you examine Gessen’s narrative with an open mind you see she is one big contradiction. The woman has an identity crisis, a loyalty crisis, a sexual identity crisis, and a paranoid delusion the mainstream liberal media broadcasts like an air raid siren.
Gessen is presented as a “New Russia” authority on comedy shows, at the Council of Foreign Relations, on PBS, in the New York Times, as if she is the great Karnak of soothsaying Russia experts. She is actually nothing of the kind. She is a tool with a mission to help destroy the traditional values of Russia, and to assist in the completed destruction of western traditions such as the institution of marriage. Anyone who cannot see this is in danger of becoming damaged goods just like Gessen. This is my honest take.
JEA: I again completely agree with you here. I remember how she intellectually humiliated herself when she hopelessly tried to defend the Pussy Riot, the Trotskyite group whose purpose was to desensitize Russia. We’ll probably discuss this later, when your article on Gessen is published.
